Teenagers*
Youth team and Fr Roderick Jones OSB

The Teenage Weekends are run to give young people the space they need to explore their faith and also build valuable friendships. There are opportunities for private reflection, prayer, games, music, chocolate and marshmallows!
Cost for weekends: £72 per person

For Younger Teenagers: Ages 11-13 (School Years 7-9)

2009 June 5th - 7th
2009 December 4th - 6th

These are fun packed weekends offering the chance for spiritual and personal growth through the experience of friendship and community. Our time together includes a healthy balance of reflection, sport, creative activities and times of prayer with the monks.

For Older Teenagers: Ages 14-18 (School Years 10+)
The weekends for older teenagers take place mostly in a weekend in half term

2009 February 13th - 15th
2009 October 23rd - 25th

One of the main aims of the older teenage weekends is to provide a space for them to engage with their faith and ask the important questions about life, the universe and everything! Prayer, reflection and discussion, time for sport, creative activities, relaxing and making friends are all part of the weekend.

Summer Activities Week: Ages 11-18 (School Years 7-13
2009 August 16th - 23rd (7 days, Sunday to Sunday)

This retreat provides an opportunity for teenagers to spend a longer period of time together. As with the other retreats, it will be a balance of games, activities and prayer. A great way to round off the summer!

Other events do take place from time to time, not all at Worth Abbey. Please enquire.

Teenagers with Young Adults*

‘Life, the Universe and Everything’*
- a weekend for 16 -20 year olds in Compass House
The Elm Grove Community and Monastic Team.
2009 December 11th - 13th

A retreat weekend especially aimed at 6th formers, those taking a gap year or starting out at university. The weekend will offer space in which to question and discover, reflect and pray.

These retreats offer a space for reflection, fellowship and deepening faith. They include talks, discussion, reflection, and experiencing something of the monastic way of life.
Open to those aged between 18 and 30.

Young Adults Summer Activities Week
2009 August 16th - 23rd (7 days, Sunday to Sunday)

This retreat provides an opportunity for young adults to spend a longer period of time together, exploring the call of the Gospel including formation, creative activities and prayer with the monastic community.

An Advent Retreat for Adults aged 25-45: ‘Return of the King’

2009 November 27th - 29th

Advent is a time when the liturgy of the Church calls us to look towards the coming of the Lord. This retreat will be an opportunity to reflect on the significance of the Incarnation but also Jesus’ return in glory at the fullness of time. What might it actually mean to live in expectation of the returning King? How does Christ’s coming in glory impact on our day to day lives?

Students and Chaplaincies welcome!
For over thirty-five years Worth has hosted student groups. If you are interested in finding out more or booking a weekend or week, either for a chaplaincy retreat or as an individual please contact The Open Cloister.
Donations per person between £28 and £42 per day.
Some Chaplaincies offer further subsidies.

* These youth events are organised in conjunction with the Lay Community of St Benedict, a community dedicated to the Gospel and the spirituality of St. Benedict as lived out by lay people.
