Living Sanctuary

From late afternoon of the first day (Monday) until after lunch on the last (Thursday).

These three-day retreats are for those who have already experienced a retreat at Worth Abbey and who wish to experience ‘living sanctuary’ for a longer period and with an increased element of silence. Immersion into the pattern of the monastic prayer will be the principal aim, enabling participants to explore their own faith journey through silence, reading and prayer. There will also be the opportunity to speak with personal prayer guides and to participate in discussions.

Advent Silent Retreat

2008 December 8th - 11th (Monday - Thursday)

Following the success of the (Palm Sunday) silent weekend retreats, this longer - weekday - silent retreat has been created to help celebrate Advent and prepare spiritually for Christmas. It will be structured around the monastic liturgy with the majority of the time for personal reflection, reading and prayer. There will be some optional meditations on Advent and Christmas. This retreat is not suitable for those coming on retreat for the first time; it is very suitable for those who have been on a silent retreat before and want more of a 'good thing'.

Other weekday events may be arranged and will be published here. If you are interested in holding your own group retreat here using our facilities, you need to apply (to the Bookings Secretary) by May 2008 to be sure of our availablility throughout 2009. However, there is less presure on weekdays than weekends so you may be able to book closer to your desired date.
