Art at Worth Abbey
 

Stained Glass for the Music Room of Paddockhurst House (Ernest Heasman, 1924)

Ernest Heasman was born on February 15th, 1874 in Lindfield, Sussex, UK. He first worked as a draughtsman for Charles Kempe (stained-glass artist). He obtained a scholarship to Slade School, where he studied between 1898 and 1901. He worked for Mr Kempe for a further period and later joined the company of Herbert Bryans as head draughtsman. He eventually left to pursue his own ideas in design and painting. He lived in Harpenden for 22 years. After an illness lasting nearly 2 years, he died on July 26th,1927.
